The Trinity

The Trinity is the Biblical doctrine that there is one God in all of existance, and He exists in three eternally distinct Persons.  These persons are the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.  Mormonism claims to believe in the Trinity, but they do not believe in the true Trinity.  In Mormon theology, the Trinity is three eternally distinct Gods.  Modalism claims to believe in the Trinity, but they do not believe in the true Trinity.  In modalism, the God exists only as one person, but switches between different "modes".  These three different modes, in modalism, are the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.  Only the Biblical doctrine of the Trinity is correct, and that doctrine is stated as follows:

The Father is the One God
The Son is the One God
The Holy Spirit is the One God
The Father is not the Son
The Son is not the Spirit
The Spirit is not the Father

In other words, there is One God (or, one essence/being), and within that One Essence exist three eternally distinct persons.  Simplified even further, we can say that there is one what, and three who's.  In addition to this, the Son possesses two natures:  The Divine nature, and a sinless human nature.  He is not half God and half man, but fully both.  He is not two persons, but one.  He is one person who is simutaneously fully God and fully Man.  This "merging" of natures is called the Hypostatic Union.  This page is devoted to defending the Biblical doctrine of the Trinity.  Since it is univerally accepted within Christendom that the Father is God, it isn't necessary to prove that He is.  However, it is frequently denied that Jesus Christ (The Son) is God, and that the Holy Spirit is God.  Therefore, much of this page will be devoted to proving that both of them are God.
